After school snack ideas
A child’s hanger after school is no laughing matter…we’ve forgotten snacks at our peril! And it is totally understandable – a day at school is demanding physically, emotionally and mentally, all of which requires a lot of energy.
So here are some ideas for after school snacks that will meet their immediate need for food without spoiling their appetite for dinner:
Grab from home to take to school:
- Fruit! oranges, apples, bananas, peaches, plums
- A little pot of cheese and grapes
- Boiled eggs
- Popcorn (so easy to make at home and store in a tupperware for snack attacks!)
- Nuts and seeds
- Pitta bread with hummus and carrot, or tzatziki and cucumber
Our favourite pre-bought snacks to grab and go:
- Liobites for fruit crisps (100% freeze dried fruit)
- Blendi for broad bean and pea snacks
- Love Corn for corn snacks

To make at home:
- Avocado on toast
- Apple slices with nut butter on top
- Dates filled with nut butter
