How is Little Cooks Co responding to Coronavirus?

In practical terms, as much as possible, it is business as usual for Little Cooks Co. We have had to adjust our shipping times to accommodate high volumes of orders but all new orders are shipped within 7 days of being placed.

All our boxes are packed to the highest possible hygiene standards and our team is following the same comprehensive advice and processes as all food suppliers. Our boxes are delivered via Royal Mail and we are monitoring the advice regarding post services and deliveries closely. As a food delivery service, we do not anticipate any restrictions on our ability to fulfill orders.

Our office team is mainly made up of mums with young children, who work from home most of the time, so we already have the processes in place to ensure business continuity. If you have any specific questions please contact us at

Do I need additional ingredients?

Your Little Cooks Co box contains all the dry ingredients you need to make the baking recipe. There are usually a few fresh or seasonal ingredients required in addition, for example milk, egg, honey or lemon juice. You will receive an email before your box is shipped to let you know the additional ingredients that are required. Hopefully this gives you enough notice, but if there is something you can’t get hold of just email us at and we will help you find an alternative.

How will my order be delivered to me?

All our orders are shipped via Royal Mail, second class post. This means that the boxes will drop through your letterbox with your regular post. If you order additional items that do not fit through the letterbox the current policy from Royal Mail is as follows:

“for all customers (including those who are self-isolating) where we need to deliver any parcel that won’t fit through your letterbox, we will place your item at your door. Having knocked on your door, we will then step aside to a safe distance while you retrieve your item. This will ensure your item is delivered securely rather than being left outside.”

When will my order arrive?

If you select standard shipping your order will be sent out by Royal Mail 2nd class post within 2-3 days of your order being placed (unless you have selected a specific shipping date).

If you select Express Shipping we will send your first delivery Royal Mail first class.  Order before 1pm and your box will be sent out first class the next working day (estimated delivery time 1-2 working days) If you are ordering a subscription, subsequent kits will be dispatched second class, on or close to the monthly anniversary date of the plan.

Please be aware that as much as we would love to, we cannot guarantee the speed of the postal service and particularly during these uncertain times postal services are experiencing bottlenecks in some areas.  We will always try our best, just like your postie!

How does the refer a friend scheme work?

For every friend you refer who signs up you receive £10 credit in your account and your friend will receive 50% off their first kit (worth £6.50). Your credit can be used on shop items or it will be automatically be applied to your next renewal (if you have a subscription which is set to renew).

To find your unique referral code you must log into your account and then select the ‘refer a friend’ tab at the bottom of the page. This page displays your code and you can either email it using the form on the page, share it on social media or send it to friends yourself.

How do I make sure my box arrives on a specific date?

Our Gifting feature allows you to select a specific date for shipping. So if you want the box to arrive for a birthday or another special day, please go to our Gift a Box page, choose the length of plan, and select the shipping date you require.

If you have placed a regular subscription then your order will be shipped within 7 days.

Please remember that we recommend the shipping date is set as 2-4 days before your desired delivery, just to be safe!

How do I place an order for multiple gifts?

It is so important to us that your gifts arrive with the right gift notes attached.  Because of the way we prepare our gift orders and handwrite every note we ask that each gift order is placed as a single order. This means they are assigned a unique order number and there is no chance of a mix-up.  As postage is free this won’t cost you any more but does make sure we get all the details right!

Should I include the gift recipient’s email in my order?

It is entirely up to you. We won’t send them any email communication until they receive their first kit so no surprises will be spoilt! If you do decide to include their email then we will invite them to create an account where they can view their gift subscription (without any information on prices!) and make any changes they might need – e.g. if they move and need to change their address, if they would like to skip a box…

Is the packaging compostable?

Yes – all food packaging is compostable so don’t forget to pop it in with your food waste.

What ages are the kits aimed at?

3 – 10 years old. Younger children will require more support and older children less, but whatever age they are we hope the kits give you lots of opportunities to have fun together in the kitchen making memories!

What is the shelf life of each box?

Each kit has a shelf life of 3 months. This means you can pop the box in the cupboard until it suits you to make it, rather than feel pressured to make it as soon as it arrives through the letterbox. They make a perfect rainy day activity!

Why don’t you use refined sugars?

The body breaks down refined sugar rapidly, causing insulin and blood sugar levels to increase very quickly. Refined sugar is also devoid of any nutrition – it just provides calories. We prefer to use natural sugars which deliver nutrition with them such as honey, dates and fruit.

What are the table talk cards?

These are fun questions and games to play together at the dinner table! You will receive 3 in each box. The first box includes an easy open ring to collect them on.

When will my little cook receive their level 1/2/3/4 awards?

A badge and certificate will be included in your 3rd, 6th, 9th and 12th cooking kits. If your little cook reaches their 4th level and has completed their record book each month then we will send them a free box with a special gift in!

Can I cancel my subscription?

Yes. You are not locked into anything and can cancel at any time by logging into your account. The other option you have is to skip months. If you have any problems just contact us at

Can I cancel 3, 6 & 12 month subscriptions?

If you’ve paid for a 3, 6 or 12 month subscription it can be skipped at anytime, meaning we will cancel the next automatic renewal of your subscription. If you want to cancel mid-subscription, for example, if you are moving away, please just let us know – we will never make you receive boxes you don’t want and will refund you the difference!

What if my child has allergies?

All of the ingredients in our kits are dairy free, meat free and wheat free. We sometimes use oats which coeliacs may not be able to tolerate but otherwise we never use gluten.

The allergens we aren’t always able to cater for are eggs and nuts. However, we will let you know what is in each kit before it arrives so you have the option of skipping if it doesn’t work for you.

Will my child need assistance?

Yes, though how much depends on your child’s age and ability. You will be the best judge of how much help your little cook will need but we come from the philosophy of trusting kids to know their limits and to ask for help when they need it. Having said that you should supervise at all times and give particular assistance when using the oven/hob and knives.  Check out our blog on cooking skills by age for a bit more info on this

What if I’m buying a gift?

Our cooking kits make a fantastic gift, as recognised by winning an award for Children’s Gift of the Year 2019! Just select ‘GIFT A BOX’ on the homepage and tell us the name of the lucky little cook who will be receiving it.

Do I need any special equipment?

Our recipes do often call for a blender or food processor to blitz nuts into flour or dates into caramel!

Does the box fit through the letterbox?

Yes. Unless you have ordered multiple boxes or bought an apron with your box.

Do you include the ingredients?

Yes, we include all the dry ingredients you will need to make our recipes. All you will need to add is a few fresh/wet items such as honey and banana (but we will email you before your box arrives to let you know what you’ll need so you and your little cook can get cooking as soon as it drops through the letterbox!)

Is everything recyclable?

Yes. We removed lamination from our boxes to make them fully recyclable and the packaging we use for food is 100% compostable so make sure to pop the bags in with your food waste!
