Easy Banana Flapjacks

These banana flapjack balls are a huge hit with kids as it’s a healthier alternative to a regular flapjack with a little cook twist to it! I make them all the time for fairs and last time I made some I made about 500!! They honestly are so fun to make with kids and so here’s the recipe in case you feel you want to do a bit of baking over the weekend.

  • 1 ripe banana
  • 100g pitted dates
  • 100ml hot water
  • 200g oats
  • 50g coconut oil
  • 2 tsp vanilla essence
  • ½ tsp bicarb of soda


  • One small bowl
  • One big bowl
  • Small pan
  • Food processor or blender
  • Spatula
  • Baking sheet
  • Baking parchment




1 Preheat the oven to 170c
2 Melt the coconut oil
3 Whizz everything but the oats in a food processor/blender
4 Pour into a mixing bowl with the oats and stir thoroughly
5 Spread into a baking tray and push flat with the back of a spoon or rub some coconut oil into your hands and roll the mix into balls
6 Bake for 15 mins (store for up to 5 days in the fridge)

Fun fact! Bananas aren’t just delicious; they also help you feel happy! They contain something called tryptophan which your brain needs to make happy hormones
