Chocolate and peanut butter waffles with chocolate sauce!

Perfect as waffles or pancakes, this breakfast is a must for chocolate lovers!

It’s hard to believe that this breakfast is actually healthy – it feels so indulgent! Yet it is PACKED with nutrients. Antioxidants from the cacao, healthy fats from the cashews and nut butter, fibre from the oats, omega 3 from the flax…and there’s no refined sugar or flour in sight which makes it an excellent way to start the day!


To make 3-4:

  • 1 cup oats (choose gluten free if preferred)
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 1 banana
  • 1 egg
  • 1 tbsp milled flaxseeds
  • 1 tbsp cacao powder (or cocoa powder)
  • 1 tbsp peanut butter (or any nut butter)


  • 50g cashew nuts
  • 50g dates
  • 120ml milk (or dairy free)
  • 15g cacao powder (or cocoa powder)


  • Measuring scales
  • Blender
  • Frying pan or waffler maker


Nuts, egg, dairy (optional)


1 Whizz all of the waffle / pancakes ingredients in a blender until smooth
2 Pour into your waffle maker (it should make 3-4 waffles depending on size of your machine) and cook. Alternatively you can heat a frying pan on a medium heat and use the mixture as pancake batter, flipping after 2-3 mins
3 While the waffles / pancakes are cooking make your sauce by rinsing the blender jug, then adding the sauce ingredients and blitzing till smooth
4 Serve your waffles / pancakes with a big dollop of chocolate sauce and your favourite fruit!
