Nutritious Nuts and Chocolate

We made these a few weeks ago and I think if we’d performed a blind-folded test, it would have been hard to tell the difference with the shop bought variety!

Ingredients

  • 6 Medjool dates (1 date = 1 snack so make as many snacks as you’d like)
  • 6 tsps nut butter
  • Small handful of hazelnuts or peanuts
  • 4 large squares of dark chocolate or make your own with:
    • 40g butter/coconut oil
    • 20g honey
    • 10g cacao powder

Equipment

  • Small baking tin
  • Parchment paper
  • Knife
  • Teaspoon
  • Saucepan

Allergens

Nuts, dairy (optional)

Directions

1 Pop some parchment paper in a small baking tin that will fit in the freezer
2 Gently slice the top of each date and remove the pips
3 Add a teaspoon of nut butter into each date and place them in your baking tin
4 Bash some peanuts or hazelnuts into small pieces with a rolling pin and sprinkle the tops of the dates with them
5 Melt your dark chocolate or make your own by gently melting the butter and then whisking in the honey and cacao powder
6 Pour the chocolate over the top of each date, trying to cover as much as possible of each date with chocolate, and then pop in the freezer for 30 mins to set
7 Eat straight away or store in the fridge in an airtight container for up to a week

Wanted to ask before subscription if all recipes are vegan friendly?

Hi Kayleigh! Our recipes are 90% vegan – we have occasionally used egg, but we always offer our customers the option of skipping or swapping recipes that don’t work for them. Hope that helps – any other questions just let us know (our customer support email is [email protected]) 😊
